21-22 Lower Columbia FEG Community Engagement Coordinator

Lower Columbia Fish Enhancement Group's mission is to promote recovery of self sustaining, naturally spawning salmonid populations and healthy aquatic ecosystems. We are a small (staff of 5) nonprofit working on habitat restoration, native plant propagation, nutrient enhancement, and salmon education. The key responsibilities of this community engagement coordinator position will fall into three areas: web/social media content creation, volunteer and community engagement, and education support. The coordinator will collaborate with other staff to increase LCFEG's online presence, share the important work we're doing and the value of habitat restoration, plan and manage volunteer events, develop ideas for fun and meaningful community engagement, and assist with our ongoing salmon-focused education efforts. There will be opportunities to get out in the field and help with on-the-ground restoration activities. We would like to hold interviews in late September.

Member Duties : The community engagement coordinator will help support our mission by better connecting us to the community through outreach, volunteer activities, and education. The key support areas are: web/social media content creation, volunteer and community engagement, and education assistance. Specific functions will include: Develop content for and manage LCFEG social media posts; Assist with development of outreach materials; Assist with planning and organizing outreach and volunteer events (e.g., potting, tree planting, nutrient enhancement); Attend outreach events and volunteer work parties, as needed; Work collaboratively with LCFEG staff and partners to create effective and engaging community outreach; Assist with recruitment and coordination of volunteers for LCFEG events and work parties; Assist with coordination and delivery of salmon-related educational programming in indoor and outdoor classroom settings.
