POSITION SUMMARY: To ensure that adequate supervision and coordination as designated by the Superintendent is exercised so that the production schedule is carried out in a timely manner in accordance with the plans, specifications, and quality standards for these activities.
High School Degree requited; Construction Management Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Two to five years of proven residential or commercial construction experience is preferred. Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Basic computer skills required; MS Word and Project desirable. Thorough knowledge of reading and interpreting plans and specifications. Must have understanding of the technical aspects of construction. Must recognize and enforce acceptable quality standards for all subcontractor work.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
-Reports to the Superintendent and assists as required in formulating a production schedule for the project. Becomes familiar with the project prior to the start by reading plans and specifications and relating them to the building site.
-Reviews contract documents signed by suppliers and subcontractors; and maintains a list of names, addresses, and telephone numbers of all subcontractors and suppliers. As directed by the Superintendent, supervisors and coordinates personnel and activities as required to meet production schedules and to conform to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
-Recommends disciplinary action to the Superintendent as appropriate. Ensures that adequate safety precautions are taken in all phases of the project to protect the lives and health of all workers and visitors, as well as to protect the equipment and material used in the construction process. Responsible for cleanliness of the job site- dumpsters, trash, etc.
-Responsible for the Sign Off List- making sure it is signed, dated, and filed. Maintain an orderly and organized trailer. Handles requisition forms, purchase orders, and change orders. Carries out all field changes and modifications as instructed by the Superintendent. Performs the duties of the Superintendent in his absence or as is delegated to him by the Superintendent. Informs the Superintendent daily as to the status of each activity under his responsibility. Advises the Superintendent of all problems arising on the construction site.
-Exercises follow-up to ensure that subcontractors report to the construction site as scheduled, coordinates activates, and provides assistance when required to ensure smooth work flow. Responsible for maintaining an accurate log on phone calls, meetings, SWPPP log, daily log, and discussions; checks materials when they arrive at the job site; and maintains an accurate filing system. Other miscellaneous duties as required or requested.
