Family Compass is the largest nonprofit in North Texas solely dedicated to the mission of child abuse prevention with the primary purpose of keeping vulnerable children from entering the overburdened child welfare system. This is accomplished through our two home mentoring programs and our Community Education and Outreach program for families that have elevated risk for child abuse and reside in the poorest communities throughout Dallas and Collin County. Our agency enters the lives of vulnerable children at-risk for abuse, and provides their parents with in-home mentoring, education, support, and tools to aid them in becoming stronger, healthier families. The Family Compass Volunteer Coordinator VISTA will help build capacity by creating and implementing a comprehensive volunteer recruitment plan, creating and implementing a volunteer onboarding system, assisting with the facilitation of volunteer tasks per agency need, and recognizing volunteer service through appreciation activities. Member Duties : As the Volunteer Coordinator VISTA, you will help Family Compass break the cycle of poverty by providing families with ongoing access to basic needs assistance such as food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and other ancillary services through the development of a strong volunteer program. Major activities include: • Creating and implementing a comprehensive volunteer recruitment plan • Creating and implementing a volunteer onboarding system • Conduct an agency volunteer needs assessment • Recognizing volunteer service through appreciation activities
