Census Data Analyst - Medical - Underwriting, Independence, Ohio

Job Description
This role supports Cigna's ability to sell and retain Cigna medical business through analyzing, scrubbing and loading of census data so rates can be established by our Underwriting partners and Sales can provide quotes. Primary responsibilities include determining if census data provided is sufficient and contains the needed data elements for rating purposes. The analyst will prepare census file data for loading and mapping in respective tools as well as creating census reports for analyzing the data. This role requires strong Excel knowledge, analytical skills and ability to adapt the fundamentals and processing guidelines learned to the various types of data received so that the highest level of accuracy can be provided. Responsibilities include knowledge of multiple product requirements, multiple tools and process functions and the flexibility to learn and manage various processes and functions on a daily basis.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyzing submitted requests and associated file/files to ensure necessary data is available for processing.
  • Support of presale account set-up functions.
  • Scrubbing of data and preparation of data for processing according to established guidelines.
  • Loading prepared data into applicable underwriting applications, mapping and coding data elements as appropriate.
  • Creating applicable census reports.
  • Review of output for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with Underwriting and Sales matrix partners as needed in regards to submitted requests
  • Complying with all business operating and tracking controls and quality assurance processes.
  • Personal accountability and independent management of all deliverables and service level agreements to assigned areas of support.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • High School Diploma, bachelor degree strongly preferred
  • Self-motivated, having the ability to operate independently in a highly matrix environment
  • Ability to meet production and quality demands and standards
  • Passionately committed to providing superior customer service
  • Operates well under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work in a changing environment

  • Ability to work well and contribute to team goals
  • Proficient in Microsoft office with strong Excel skills is required

Location: This position can be located anywhere in the U.S., including WAH.
