The Network Provider Contracting Principal is responsible for strategic planning and overall performance management of assigned network provider portfolio. In this role, you will have direct interface with high-level industry executives, managing the contracting relationship as it relates to ESI's needs of access, cost, and performance. The Network Provider Contracting Principal is recognized as a provider contracting expert and thought leader by both internal and external community. As a Provider Contracting Principal, you will serve as the escalation point with providers for operational issues, working closely with Retail Account Managers; and Represent Network Contracting in the development and presentation of Express Scripts' message at various venues, including retail corporate meetings and national conventions such as NCPDP and NACDS.

  • Manage a retail provider portfolio valued at approximately $20 billion.
  • Responsible for achieving business objectives and financial targets in negotiating and renegotiating contracts for assigned portfolio comprised of mass merchants, supermarkets, large, medium and small chains as well as pharmacy services administration organizations (PSAOs) and unaffiliated independents.
  • Maintain working knowledge and operational understanding of assigned portfolio contracts necessary to provide insight to their individual financial influence and the relationship to the global impact for ESI and its clients.
  • Coordinate management of Supply Chain functions, including, but not limited to, reporting and operations.

  • 10-14 years of industry experience in a related field (e.g. PBM, Healthcare) with a Bachelor's degree or 8-12 years of experience with graduate degree (MBA, JD)
  • Three to five years of relevant contracting experience preferred
  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills to work with network providers and various cross-functional partners, including but not limited to legal, finance, pricing, operations, Network Product and Sales and Account Management
  • Proven track record for success in leading or working with high-performing teams in a matrixed environment
  • Effective organization, prioritization and management of complex deliverables in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office and Excel.
